Goat farming is gaining popularity across the world mainly for its nutritional value and health benefits derived from the goat meat. Goat meat is alleged to be the best kind of animal meat for many reasons and also has a lot of by-product ranging from leather, milk and cheese.

Goat meat which is also known as chevon is low in calories, total fat, saturated fat and cholesterol than other traditional meats. Goat meat taste good and has higher level of iron when compared with that of beef, pork, mutton and chicken. Comparatively, goat meat also contain higher potassium content with lower sodium levels offering more nutritional value and greater health benefits.



The goat meat has about the same nutritional value as the sheep but chevon has more protein and less fat compared to the sheep meat (mutton) Because of the molecular structure, the goat meat is more easily digested. Due to low content of saturated fatty acid and cholesterol, the goat meat in the human diet is healthier alternative compared to other types of red meat.

In addition, goat meat contain some essential amino acids such as lysine, threonine and tryptophan (essential for normal growth and development and serve as a precursor of niacin and serotonin) The nutritional value of goat meat affects human health positively, because it is not only contain less total fat and cholesterol, but also content of saturated fatty acids are lower than in the other traditional types of meat.

   1.Weight loss:  Goat meat comprise of B vitamins, which is known to help one effectively burn fat, and also reduce the risk of obesity because they are rich in B vitamins. Goat meat is good for those that want to lose weight.

2. Anaemia:
Goat meat contain higher level of iron than chicken and most of the traditional meats. Iron is an important constituent of hemoglobin in the blood. Hemoglobin is one type of protein that prominent to the body metabolism, some of them are distributing oxygen to all body cells while some are important in the development of fetus during pregnancy.
